Trish and George Got Wed, 30th August 2008.

And as always, it was good to catch up with the Bristol crew. We stayed in Warminster; a tip from the top: don’t, it’s a hole of a town.

On Saturday, Kate ‘persuaded’ me to pop down the road to pick up a couple of hefty 13″ pizzas (£9 = Barry’s bargain basement) and some cans of Stella. We’ve recently picked up our addiction to 24 and were making our way through ‘season‘ series 4. The glorious image I must convey is of the three of us lounging in our pit; curtains closed; watching TV; stuffing our faces and swigging on wifebeater at 11 o’clock. That’s 11 o’clock a.m.. IN THE MORNING.

And all the while, Frankie dressed only in her nappy happily lounges amongst us, chewing on our discarded crusts. This is of course exemplary parenting and will teach her a lot in the long run. Something about not taking life too seriously and being able to relax when all those around her are losing their heads. Or something.

Just finished downloading series 5 last night. Bring it.

Went at it a bit hard, continuing all the way through the night and only really finishing up in time to watch Hamilton win at Silverstone. Totally forgot about the Nadal vs. Federer match.

Her indoors did us particularly proud on the fodder front but as I was flitting around like the social moth that I am I didn’t even get round to trying any. And unfortunately I wasn’t concentrating on getting some good phot in either so below is just a small sample of an otherwise not great bunch of snaps. Had I thought this through, I would have had pics of everyone of you herein. But I didn’t. But thank you to Ma, Pa, Emma, Ed, Don, Helene, Edd, Amber, Mick, Barb, Askey, Parker, Matt, Izzy, Fi, Aly, Kevin, Champs, StevO, Tim, Legs, Alec, Sami, Heather, Gheetu, Rick, Katie, Madeleine, Ali, Lindsay, Zoe, Foz, Rob, Lianne, Rupe, Georgie, Mark, Anna, Finn, Mike, Laura, Julia, Susan and Oli D for making it over and I hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.

I can also do things like that, only much much better. As a former movie star though, I always like to exercise the 2nd rule of showbiz and keep my audience wanting more.

Few too many drinks after work with new local chums Ben and Corina; additional lack of sleep as baby was up with a horrific sounding cough; didn’t get my arse into gear to go jumping on the only good weather day of the weekend; another not great night’s sleep as little lady is all but coughing up blood; up early and over to Gloucester to see Kate’s grandma who thinks I look like Roger Federer(!?); outrageously crap lunch at a naff pub – the Air Balloon; then (and this is the only good part) over to Cheltenham to see the family Harrison; looked after very well there again; got moving to the cheese rolling a tad too late the next morning, ridiculous traffic, didn’t make it in time, turned around; drove back to London through torrential rain.

Lessons learnt:

• Do not drink heavily if you’re going skydiving the next day
• Find out exact timings for events and add more time for traffic
• Move to a country with a sensible climate
• Do not waste your precious days off

Matt: Uncool

Went to lots of the old haunts: Racks, The Avon Gorge Hotel, the Corry Tap etc. Bristol is a good looking town. It was good to see it all again.

Muse: Giving it large

It was the first proper large night out for Kate since finding out she was up the duff last January. That’s 14+ months without going loopy, which is enough to send you loopy really. Cousin Don and Helene, who now live close enough that we could actually catapult Frankie to them, very kindly babysat for the whole night whilst we went out and made merry.

We were pretty much on stage, and Matt Bellamy also treated us to a rendition on the organ there which was very cool. I think this is the third time I’ve seen them and due to the great venue was probably the best. If you get the chance to see them live, do so. They are awesome.
