And another. This guy had been in theatre for 15 days and was shot whilst on sentry duty at the Old State Building, downtown Basrah. Pity the next guy on stag!Taken from the Manchester Evening Post, his last letter home:

“Hi Dad and Rose

Just writing to let you know I am fine, not been blown up yet!!! As I write this letter, I am not in Basra yet. I am in another camp. Getting used to the weather it is Hot!!! And it’s only winter. Hope you are OK, time is moving pretty fast, I am always busy.

Hope you are getting a tan back in England, ha ha.

I go to Basra tonight, a lot is happening there. Last night the whole camp got attacked. A lot of Iraq insurgents died. We lost nobody. But the place where I am going gets attacked most nights and mortared a lot.

I am getting along with the lads well. Write back so I know how you are.
