The purpose of the blog? Still unsure although I think it may have something to do with wanting to keep in touch easily with my geographically dispersed friends and family. And something to do with a need to document.

Personally I think you should go admire the cute daughters over in the photo albums, but otherwise here’s the semi-obligatory ‘Fifty Things’, in no particular order:

Fifty Things

  1. Born Brighton, England, 8th December 1975.
  2. Full name: James Douglas Lowry Spratt. Douglas from my father’s father, Lowry seems to be optional.
  3. I became a father to Frankie McConnachie Spratt on 18th October 2007.
  4. and again to Alex Lowry Spratt on 18th December 2009.
  5. I met Kate in person on 18th October 2006. (yep, check those dates)
  6. 2 brothers, Chris and Otto; 2 sisters, Emmah and Aly.
  7. I prefer not to eat herring, eel, anchovies, aniseed, cinnamon or cloves. Despite this I still don’t think I’m a fussy eater.
  8. Have lived in London for 10+ years.
  9. Father lives in Thailand, Slovakia, India, Cambridge, France, Belgium, Surrey; mother in Northland, NZ, both from London.
  10. Jim Morrison shares the same birthday and middle name as me.
  11. I weigh in at 14.4 stone. Ding ding. (erm, are you sure?)
  12. John Lennon was killed on my 5th birthday.
  13. The only bone I’ve broken is in my right foot when I was about 5, whilst on holiday in Cornwall. Dropped a paving slab on it whilst looking for spiders to take home to scare my mother.
  14. I have 9 toe-nails.
  15. I ran the London marathon in 1998 with a time of 3:18:31, hence the previous fact.
  16. After a good night’s sleep, I’m 6′ tall.
  17. I still loathe certain schoolmasters and it would bring a wry smile to hear about some being involved in a nasty accident.
  18. London is my favourite city in the world.
  19. I was blonde until I was about 16. And I used to have straight hair.
  20. I prefer to write in black ink. I feel slightly uncomfortable writing in blue, green I can live with but red is pretty much out of the question.
  21. I believe in the nuclear family.
  22. Favourite books: OED, GBWR and ‘Papillon‘. ‘A Million Little Pieces’ was excellent too.
  23. Favourite movies: Return of the Jedi, True Romance, Nil By Mouth, Love Honour and Obey, Sexy Beast, in fact anything with Ray Winstone. Tricky one, will have to update as I think of them.
  24. In the year spanning 95-96 I had a total of 43 stitches from 3 different incidents in 3 different countries. It was a great time.
  25. I had my first ‘frenchie’ aged 11.
  26. I can juggle with 3 balls.
  27. I used to have a piercing until I was ordered to remove it.
  28. I’m left-handed, except when it comes to eating and racket sports. Eating is obviously a racket sport.
  29. I wanted to be a stuntman when I grew up. Or a dentist.
  30. I prefer falling to sleep with the music playing.

  49. My friends tend to call me Jim. I never asked to be called Jim but I have asked not to be called Jamie.
