Am thinking that maybe I should create a Spratt wiki or forum. Could be more useful than this blog category as unfortunately people can only write in asking for info instead of there being a general collective for Spratt searchers. Anyway, Carol:

Could we possibly be related in the manner of Brad and Obama???
I have searched for more information on James and his family, on various geneology sites, but to no avail.
Our tree currently contains over 1400 names, beginning with James.
Unfortunately, yours isn’t one of them (yet). Any thoughts???

Hi Carol,
Always good to hear from a fellow Spratt! Yep, undoubtedly we are Brad
and Obama.Despite having this site and the ‘Spratt’ category, all I get are people
posting info asking me, not telling me what the story is. My completed
family tree only goes back to 1850ish and I haven’t computerised it yet.
All I know is that there’s a Northern Ireland connection.Mind if I post your email on the site?
Where you based now?
Regards,
James
Thanks for replying. I am in Toronto, but a great majority of the Spratt descendants are still in the Ottawa area.
Certainly you can post my message – hopefully it will get some response. I have been in touch with Cynthia McAlindon, who is a (recently discovered) cousin living 20 minutes away.
It would be nice if we could connect your ancestors with ours – but chances are slim at this point, I think, unless someone wants to spend hours poring over old documents (which I tried). My sister-in-law went to Ireland 4 years ago and worked with a searcher there, but they didn’t come up with much either. The trail sorta goes blank after the brothers left the country!
