Last night I went out to the Notting Hill Arts Club with my old friend Rob. I haven’t been there for about 8 years and forgot what a loony place it is. It’s really on another planet. And it’s open til 1am on a Sunday night, which is nice if you don’t want the weekend to stop. It was “Radio Gagarin’s Experiments in Sunday Socialism” which meant a Russian themed evening. To start with there was some lecture about tractor racing and cabbages, followed by a kind of Oompah band, which was too funny and cool, then the main event was a Moscovite band called Nayekhovichi. If you can catch them somewhere somehow then please do, they’re a hoot.
